Stephen,
Well… here I am.
At the end of my Masterclass with you.
And I just want to say: thank you.
When I first started this course, I wasn’t starting from zero — but it certainly felt like it. I had studied piano as a child for about five years and could play a few pieces back then. But by the time I came to this course, I couldn’t remember almost any of it.
I had forgotten how to read music.
I didn’t understand scales.
And I definitely didn’t understand why I needed to learn theory before jumping straight into songs.
At first, that part was difficult for me.
But now, at the end of the course… I understand completely.
As the lessons progressed, I began trying very simple beginner pieces. I wasn’t very good — but I kept going. Step by step, something started to build.
And then… it all came together.
A few lessons back, something just clicked.
I decided I wanted to challenge myself, so I chose a piece that meant something special to me — Moonlight Sonata. My brother used to play it all the time when I was younger, and that memory stayed with me.
At first, I started with an easier, abridged version. I could play it… somewhat.
But now, at the end of this journey, I’ve taken it a step further. I got the full version in C# minor, and today I’m able to play each hand on its own with confidence.
My goal now is to master it in the next couple of weeks.
We’ll see!
But what I do know is this: none of this would have happened without this course.
I am 76 years old.
And I truly believed I would never play the piano again.
But then you appeared — like a light — and gave me something I didn’t expect to feel again: hope.
Your enthusiasm, your energy, and your belief in the process made me believe in myself again. You made me feel like I could do this.
And now I can honestly say: I am doing it.
My husband sees it too. Every day when I practiced, he could see my excitement, my joy, and my sense of purpose growing.
The piano has become something more than just an instrument.
It has become my comfort.
My peaceful place.
And also something that excites me every single day.
To anyone out there wondering if they should take this course…
Yes, it is an investment.
But it is worth every penny.
Because this isn’t just about learning piano.
It’s about rediscovering something inside yourself.
And for me… this is just the beginning.
With gratitude,
Adele Boudreau Emerson
